Back to School Night

You are cordially invited to attend Parent “Back to School” Night on Tuesday, August 27. This will be an opportunity to become better acquainted with your child’s teacher and the curriculum that will be covered during the 2019-20 school year. Because of the design of the program and space limitations, we respectfully ask that the evening be reserved for parents only (child care will be available in the high school Learning Commons for $5 per child).

K – 4 Schedule:
Each teacher will repeat the presentation at two different times, 7:00-7:30 pm and 7:40-8:10 pm. This will give you the opportunity to hear multiple teacher presentations if you have more than one child in grades K – 4.

5 – 8 Schedule:
Because students in grades 5 – 8 receive instruction from a team of teachers, each grade level will be meeting together. Each grade level team will present at two separate times, 7:40-8:10 pm and 8:20-8:50 pm. Again, this will give you the opportunity to hear multiple grade level presentations if you have more than one child in grades 5 – 8 (or if you have children in K – 4 and need to coordinate your visit to those classrooms). The grade level teams will meet in the following locations:

Grade 5: Lunch Room
Grade 6: GS Gym
Grade 7: WAC Lobby
Grade 8: HS Auditorium

Educational Support Services:
Teachers: Mrs. vanStee, Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Piasecki, Mrs. Groenewold, and Mrs. Markos
Information regarding these services will be presented from 7:00-7:30 and 7:40-8:10pm in Room 207.

Social Work and Speech:
Teachers: Mrs. Schwarz (Social Work) and Mrs. Frens (Speech)
Information regarding these services will be presented from 7:40-8:10 and 8:20-8:50pm in Room 205.

Specials:
Teachers: Ms. DeJager (music), Mrs. Hoogstra/Mrs. Venhousen (art), Ms. Groenewold (P.E.) and Mrs. Larsen (Library)
Information regarding these programs will be presented from 7:00-7:30 and 7:40-8:10pm in the Art Room.

We are all eager to share with you the distinctiveness of the Christ-centered educational program at Timothy Christian Schools, and look forward to welcoming you on August 27!

Expectantly,

Dr. Tim Hoeksema
Principal

Welcome Back to School!

From the Desk of Dr. Tim Hoeksema: K-8 Principal

It is early August, but it’s already time to start thinking about the beginning of another school year at Timothy!  We are all eager to welcome you back for our first day on Wednesday, August 21, as we again enthusiastically pursue our Christ-centered mission. Remember that our first day is a half day with a noon dismissal. After School Care will be available from 12-6:00 pm for all registered students at the regular rates, and for others at $8.00 per hour.

For a smooth start to the school year, read this email in detail. This will help make sure your student comes to the first day of school with all the correct information completed. If you haven't uploaded your student's required health forms, please turn them in on the first day of school (see your SchoolAdmin checklist timothychristian.schooladminonline.com/users/sign_in).

Because we want to maintain balanced classrooms and may need to make last minute adjustments, our K-6th class lists will not be available until 6:00 pm on Friday evening, August 16, when they will be emailed to parents. This will give you an opportunity to review the class lists prior to Meet the Teachers. The lists will also be posted on Monday in multiple locations throughout the school including the gymnasium and the individual wings.

MS schedules along with locker numbers are now available to view in PowerSchool. If you have accessed PowerSchool in the past, your account will be the same as it was in previous years. If you need to set up a new PowerSchool account, information will be emailed soon. Paper copies of your MS schedule will be available during home base on the first day of school.

We look forward to a year of growth and faithfulness as we serve the Lord together at Timothy!

Sincerely,

Dr. Tim Hoeksema
Elementary and Middle School Principal
